Best Made Videos® February 2019 Newsletter

February 2019 Newsletter

Greetings everyone!  Reid here with Best Made Videos®.  This is one of the latest monthly newsletters I have ever put together, and for good reason...WE WENT TO HAWAII!!!  With my mom, brother and grandmother in tow, we made the trek across the ocean to the island of Maui.  A little sunshine and oceanside relaxing was the perfect way to take a break, especially after all of the snow and cold weather we have been experiencing lately in Seattle.
We explored the area, at some great meals at some local recommended spots and just took a few days to recharge before heading back to Seattle to teach (Dorothy) and to keep booking more weddings for the summer (me!).

I mentioned in last month’s newsletter that Dorothy and I had attended the launch party for the Weddings in Woodinville wedding tour.  A few weeks later near the end of January, Dorothy and I bundled up and spent the day at JM Cellars meeting prospective wedding clients.  The Weddings in Woodinville wedding tour is a collaboration with many of the major wineries in the area, and acts as a great way for engaged couples to tour the venues, meet wedding vendors, and see all that Woodinville has to offer.  From their website - “Weddings in Woodinville is a special event designed to give couples and their families and friends a sneak preview of each fully-decorated venue to better envision their special wedding day. It’s an idea fest of innovative décor, amazing wines and tasty tidbits. Unlike any other show, Weddings In Woodinville creates a fun environment for attendees to meet with the finest wedding professionals from this area while being transported in chauffeur-driven luxury transportation.”

Around the same time as the Weddings in Woodinville tour, Dorothy and I stopped by the Sanctuary at Admiral to take part in their open house for many of their engaged clients.  Featuring some excellent food, beer and wine, this was a great way to see some of the new renovations the team there has made over the last few months.  Here is a little info from their website - “The Sanctuary at Admiral, a Duos Company venue, is the perfect space for life’s special events.  Originally opened in 1929 as a church, this Art Deco style building has been beautifully transformed into a dramatic and distinctive venue. Upon arriving at Sanctuary, you are greeted by our Garden Courtyard that is enclosed by wrought iron gates and tailored landscaping as you make your way into the grand foyer.

Immediately you will feel the grand nature of the building with it’s soaring 25ft ceiling and sophisticated furnishings setting the tone of your event.

From the foyer, you can descend to the Speakeasy room or work your way up to the Grand Room. The Grand Room is enclosed by floor to celling windows wrapped in beautiful custom velvet drapes lit by a collection of chandeliers driving home the elegance of the space. The Speakeasy room is lined with lush burgundy carpeting, period wood and iron tables and lounge areas filled with tufted leather and velvet furnishings.

This space is tailor suited for corporate and private events, chef tables, and of course your dream wedding. The Sanctuary At Admiral has an entire level devoted to a bridal or grooms suite inclusive of a separate lounge, full bath and separate vanity room.”

During the week of snow that we had in Seattle, Dorothy and I, just like many in the area were stuck inside!  Besides trying to get as much work done as possible, we did venture out in the storm to QFC where we picked up some very fitting brews to signify our time stuck inside.  “Working from home”, “Yellow Snow” (for Rosie), and “Da Shootz” (cause why not? lol) were the three that we chose to represent the 5+ days we spent stuck inside!

Before all of the snow rolled into the area, I was able to do a little corporate work on an internal award video for Ingersoll Rand down in Kent, Wa.  Their “Green Team” had recently completed some work of the nearby Duwamish River and they need to put together a video showing all of the work they had done to submit to Ingersoll Rand in hope of winning a worldwide company award.  “Ingersoll Rand enhances operational efficiency, saves energy and improves productivity through innovative equipment, products and services.”  Although the Kent “Green Team” didn’t win this year, they did have a great showing at the global award and look forward to submitting a new project for consideration again next year.

Andrea and Jeffrey got married out at The Kelley Farm in Bonney Lake which was our very first wedding of 2019.  Even though it was our first wedding of the year, I'm pretty sure this amazing day will STILL be one of my favorites when the year comes to an end.  These two lovebirds had so much fun, I just couldn't help but smile the entire day.  Working with an all-star team of wedding vendors including Rebecca Jane Photography and Holcomb Weddings and Events, this was a great day, plain and simple.

Here is the recap video that I put together featuring all of the awesome wedding vendors we worked with at JM Cellars for the Weddings in Woodinville wedding tour.

Special thanks to all of our amazing vendors!

This is another fun wedding video testimonial with a recent wedding couple of ours, Marcy and Mark.  These two fun people got married at Salty's on Alki (sound familiar?) and had lots of thoughts to share about hiring Best Made Videos® to film their wedding celebration.  I'm going to be posting a couple video testimonials from the archives that I forgot to share last year so stay tuned for that!!

We released a ton of new episodes of our podcast "Get to Know Your Wedding Pro" this month including interviews with Dawn Boyton of Seattle Bride Hair, Vivien Marsh of Letterology, Candi Lirette professional hair stylist and makeup artist, Matt Clements Jr. of Best Made Videos® and McKenzie Wilson of Fun Frames Photo Booth.

Check out the entire podcast feed on: www.soundcloud.com/bestmadevideos. And please let me know if there is anybody that you would like to hear from in an upcoming wedding vendor interview!

Monthly Videography Tip!

Get lost in your surroundings!

I recently shared an older video testimonial I had recorded last summer with Kaleena and Tim who got married at Cedar Springs in Port Orchard.  These two had such an incredible wedding day and their portrait session was one of my favorites!  These two were so much in love and so comfortable with each other that we could just let them spend time together while we went around and got all these amazing candid shots of them, like the one you see above.  Sometimes not forgetting about the photo and video teams and just getting lost in your surroundings with the one you love is the best way to get great photos for your wedding day!

My job wouldn't be complete without including a nice image of ROSIE!  Rosie got a little warm one night before bed and decided to stick her head out from under the covers!  Love that little friend...

Thank you all for checking out our monthly newsletter!  February is really almost over and we are headed up to Hidden Meadows this weekend to film another beautiful wedding celebration.  As always, thanks again for your support, I'm off to edit some more wedding videos and to update our blog.  Have a good one!
