May 2019 Newsletter

Greetings everyone!  Reid here with Best Made Videos®. Our first wedding in May, and technically the first wedding of the “wedding season” in Seattle found us heading west to the town of Port Angeles for the wedding of Marie and Jason. These two got married at a newer wedding venue, Mountain View Venue and boy must I say the view was spectacular. Getting ready at some cabins down the road, we did a first look and bridal portraits before heading to the ceremony site where the groomsmen walked down the aisle to “It’s Raining Men” and the bridesmaids came down to their own unique salsa dance. Rounding out the night with a romantic hillside dance as the sun came down, Marie and Jason’s wedding day was simply magical and I wish them years and year of love and happiness!!

Following a spectacular wedding weekend in Port Angeles, Dorothy and I visited some of our favorite South Sound wedding vendors at our annual Rainiers baseball game. Put on by Kellie Blair of Historic 1625 (one of my favorite wedding venues ANYWHERE) this is a great way to meeting new friends and old, all while getting to sip a beer and watch the baseball game. What a fun way to "work" and what a great treat!!!

I was asked to take part in the first ever open house for The Barn at Holly Farm, a newer wedding venue in Bothell. I asked the director of the barn Karmel to appear on the Get to Know Your Wedding Pro® podcast the week before the open house as a way to gain more exposure and increase interest leading into the open house. Jelena of JBK events lead her expertise to style the event, and we all had a great time meeting a steady stream of potential wedding clients who toured the venue during the day.

May ended (well technically June began) with Dorothy and I traveling north to Snohomish county to visit Jardin del Sol for the Snohomish Wedding Tour. This is the second time we have participated in the tour and the second time we have been honored to be asked to appear at the stunning venue. Rebecca Grant of New Creations Wedding Design and Coordination styled the event and we shot a fun little stylized event video to showcase all of the fun that was had by the tour attendees. Check out the recap video below in the newsletter!

The folks at Khoros Connect hired us to shoot a recap video from one of their networking afternoons at the Starbucks headquarters in Seattle. This event featured guest speakers from Expedia, Microsoft and Starbucks who all spoke about leveraging the power of social media in online marketing. Check out the video!!!

We were asked to participate in the first ever open house at The Barn at Holly Farm and we put together this fun recap video showcasing all of the fun!

From the Barn at Holly Farm's website - "A Celebration Space in the Middle of the Urban Sprawl. The Barn at Holly Farm has a history of being an education center for corporate team building, Fibershed education, farming, equestrian riding and equine therapy. We have been involved in the community since 1922, which makes the Holly Farm barn 96 years old, classifying it as a heritage barn, a barn in Washington that is deemed a cultural resource due to its unique historic character. Restored to retain its original character, we’ve created a celebration space right in the middle of the urban sprawl."

This recap video is from the May 2019 Wedding Network Seattle meeting at Parties on the Terrace in Redmond featuring guest speaker Stephanie Wall from Zero Waste Seattle.

From Wedding Network Seattle's website - "Sustainable, Green and Eco-friendly weddings have become trending topics as stories about our climate, oceans and lands fill our news feeds! Couples are opting for weddings with a lower impact on the environment and seeking out services that reflect those values. Guest Speaker: Stephanie Wall from Zero Waste Seattle. Her presentation will provide insight into the specific attitudes, concerns and criteria of the zero waste community. It will also explore ways for wedding vendors to create customer personas associated with this new market segment. We will discuss how to take an active role in creating sustainable weddings and our speaker will offer ideas for implementing zero waste practices."

This is the recap video we put together with some of the amazing vendors at Jardin del Sol from the Snohomish Wedding Tour.

From the Tour's website - "WESTERN WASHINGTON'S PREMIER WEDDING EVENT. My Snohomish Wedding has a variety of venues and wedding professionals that will help you make your special day perfect. You can be assured that the venues and professionals represented on this website are highly regarded professionals in their field and they are committed to providing excellence and you can have the utmost confidence in their services. Monthly Videography Tip!

Always make sure to find time to do wedding portraits!!!
Meg and Phelix had an incredible wedding over the weekend at Lake Wilderness Lodge in Maple Valley. A huge gathering of family and friends led to a jam-packed and action filled day which left little time for all of the normal formalities that we would normally want to photograph and take video of during a wedding day. Between the ceremony and reception we only had about 45 min to get all of the bridesmaid, groomsmen and family photos that we needed, so we really had to work quickly. Before heading back to the venue for the reception, we had to make sure we took just 5 min to snap a few photos of the newlyweds as up until that point that had been separated all day and had no formal portraits together. Finding this incredible pond (and a walkway nearby) we utilized the few moments we had to capture these stunning shots that the couple will get to enjoy for years and years to come!!

My job wouldn't be complete without including a nice image of ROSIE!  Rosie was a little hot during her walk last week in the "unbearable" 60 degree weather and wanted to take a little break!!! lol Love that little friend...

Thank you all for checking out our monthly newsletter!  June is off to a swell start and we are prepping for our three weddings over the weekend. We will be shooting Cheyenne and Tim's wedding at a private residence, Alicia and Jeff's wedding at the Monte Cristo Ballroom and Melody and James' wedding in Ballard! As always, thanks again for your support, I'm off to edit some more wedding videos and to update our blog.  Have a good one!
