“Reid is the BEST!! We planned a somewhat last minute wedding, 3 1/2 months out, which could have been a nightmare…however, Reid made it a dream!! After calling countless videographers who were booked and/or “had to get back to me,” but never did, Reid answered with a cheery voice and a calming presence. He assured me that it was all going to be great even with our compressed timeline, and he was not wrong! Things all fell into place beautifully and we had the most wonderful day!! Best of all, Reid and his team were able to capture everything perfectly and put together the most beautiful video for us to relive the magic over and over again. I couldn’t imagine our day without him and am so thankful we trusted such a great person, professional, and now friend with this very important task:) You can’t go wrong with Best Made Videos!!! 10000% recommended to anyone who is looking for a personally tailored professional wedding video to cherish for a lifetime!”

It was once said, “Winter is coming,” and that sentiment could not be better applied to the last week of November. Dropping into the low 30s, perhaps colder, we cannot help but think back to the total blast of an event that was the Chavez Wedding. A bright, warm and wonderfully sunny day up in Mukilteo, at an annual neighborhood get together called “Goatstock” (you’ll see why later), is all we need to warm our slowly freezing hearts. And did we mention there was a block party? Because there was a block party!

Shaylin and Christian’s day got off to a cozy, relaxing start. Wondering why? Because they were getting dressed at Shaylin’s parent’s house! They would also stay here for the wedding, at the self-titled, “Goatstock,” for an entire day of fun in the sun. The boys got ready by taking it easy, doing shots before trying to tackle the intricacies of tie-tying. Having met at an entirely different wedding, these two were ready for their own and they were certainly having fun with it!

The majority of the day consisted of getting ready, hanging out, and getting ready for a momentous occasion. Going for as easy a day as possible, there were no other big events planned for the bulk of the afternoon. However, once 5pm hit, it was time to get things rolling with the first look. The bride and groom opted to save their “first look” until the actual ceremony, so this one was just with Shaylin and her father.

Soon after, it was time for the backyard wedding! The block party was already setting up on the road and the final touches were put on. Rain City Time Machine played the hits, and before you knew it, the bride was walking down the aisle. If ever there was a way to take the pressure off the wedding, it’s to have it in a familiar, comfortable place. Knowing this, the vows and ceremony came out so beautifully. There was nothing but joy and happiness for this fated day, as Shaylin was literally jumping with excitement before Christian dipped her almost to the floor for their first magical kiss as husband and wife.

Group photos followed, which meant that the smiles were all explosively bright. Just down the road a ways at the Japanese Gulch, these photos got everyone involved. Funny poses and gleeful smiles had us all boisterous, too. And then it was time for the party!

It’s not every day you get to film a block party for a wedding, and that’s why this is the best job! Coming from the back yard, the newlyweds emerged into the driveway where they promptly started to party. Moving into the streets, lights draped across the way, the celebration was thoroughly underway. What’s that you see, a taco truck? You got that right! This was a celebration for the ages.

Partying on into the night, only to be stopped by pesky city noise laws, the party wound down before 11pm struck, but not after a passionate sing-along to Sweet Caroline. Thank you again to Shaylin and Christian for picking Best Made Videos® to film their wedding day! Your wedding was certainly one of the GOATs!

Shaylin and Christian’s story in their own words:

How did you guys meet?

Christian and Shaylin met a wedding Arizona. He was the best man and she was a bridesmaid, and as corny as it sounds, it was basically love at first sight. He extended his flight the day after the wedding to spend a few more hours together and then left his phone number on a napkin (he had lost his phone a few days before). However, Christian lived in Wyoming at the time and Shaylin lived in California. Not only that, but Shaylin was in the middle of her masters program with a goal of becoming an international teacher, which she figured would be a solo adventure because of the completely abnormal lifestyle that working in the industry requires. Never-the-less, she sent him a text message when she got home and the rest is history. They talked for hours on end every day and would save up to visit each other as often as possible until about six months in, Shaylin quit her job and moved from Orange County, CA to the 12k person town of Green River, WY. They never looked back and couldn’t be happier now to celebrate their love with family and friends five days before they leave for their first international adventure in Beijing, China!!

Tell us about the proposal!

They took a road trip through Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming planning as they went. It was Shaylin’s spring break so Christian took a week off of work and they set off to Glacier National Park…only to get a few hours in and realize there was still too much snow for them to get into the park. Instead, they made up the trip each day that came their way. It was amazing!! All along however, Christian was planning to propose when the time was right, unbeknown to Shaylin. After traveling through countless beautiful landscapes, mountain trails, and national parks, on the last day of their trip, they stayed in Uray, CO. Alone on the side of a stunning mountain top, Christian popped the question! He caught it all on camera and although Shaylin was far from graceful, she clearly could not have been more excited! It was perfect.

Why did you choose your venue?

It’s my parents house and they are having a block party that same day which we will be blending into our reception as well 🙂

What are you most excited to see in the video?

The first time Christian and Shaylin see each other walking down the aisle, the fun dancing and laughter that is bound to occur, and just to have a short overview of the day to look back on and smile as the years go by.
