Make sure you have fun!
Every wedding and video shoot has its own unique challenges and forces us to learn and re-adapt. Today’s post and lesson is, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FUN!
*Author's note - This is basically just me taking a few moments to reflect on how lucky I've been to have had such an amazing string of wonderful clients over the last few months.
There's been a common trend lately with all of my wedding couples that has led to successful, beautiful and emotional wedding videos for each and every one of them. You wanna know what that trend is? They all had FUN!
I am blessed to get to work with amazing clients who let me accompany them on one of, if not THE most important day of their lives, and believe me it's a lot of pressure. As stressful as it might be (for me, it’s always stressful for them, lol) having warm and inviting couples who just want to have fun makes the day go by that much more smoothly.
It's not always easy however, lately my wedding parties have had to overcome unpleasant weather (rain and wind), long days and hectic timelines, but I can't think of a time over the last 20 weddings or more where there wasn't a smile on all of our faces. Wedding planning and wedding experiencing (for the bride and groom) is a once in a lifetime thing and they rarely know what to expect once the day actually begins.
One of the jobs of a wedding photographer or videographer is to at least TRY to make the day as smooth and positive as possible. If a bride or groom doesn't want to have fun during their wedding however, there's not much we can do. Luckily this hasn't been a problem lately and therefore my job has been just a little easier!
Whether it's the singing and dancing in the hotel room while the bride gets ready, or it's the wisecracks the groomsmen throw at the groom trying to get him to break into laughter during the portrait taking, every single one of these moments adds to my enjoyment of the day as well as the couple actually getting married. I've also had a ton of wonderful parent's lately (of both the bride and groom) and whether they were looking out for ME, making sure I had food and drink or they were trying to orchestrate around some of the extended family for group pictures, their presence lately has been a wonderful touch as well.
Basically besides wanting to showcase a fun little picture from our latest Newcastle Golf Club wedding (the featured image for this blog) and gush about how awesome my clients have been lately, I just want to remind everybody that wedding planning, and wedding "experiencing" is supposed to be fun. So make sure you smile, hug your girlfriends or snag that extra kiss with your husband or wife. It's your day, experience the way that YOU want and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
