Living in the city can get a little tiresome after a while. You start to miss the trees, unpolluted streams, sounds of birds chirping and that whiff of newly-blossomed flowers. And then you start to imagine rolling fields of green, towering trees as far as the eye can see, only to be brought back to the reality that all that shade is from the skyscrapers, and all that noise is really just honking and people screaming. So if you want to get in touch with your natural side, Nature’s Connection Place is the exact wedding venue you need, as was discovered by the Godwins.
Even though it’s hardly an hour outside of Seattle, it really feels like some long-lost paradise untarnished by modern civilization. With little ponds, fountains, bridges and a serene sense of calmness, you get quite a bit of bonuses in your package. Access to the entire area, sound systems, tents, tables, attendants and dressing rooms, and the cleanup is included as well. That’s a pretty great deal!
The Godwin’s wedding got off to a gray and cloudy start, there would be rain to come later, but not quite yet to rain on this parade! If our drone footage doesn’t quite put into perspective the beauty of this place, perhaps you should hit up Google for more proof. As the day started rolling along, the ladies sipped some champagne while the guys threw back some beers.
Eventually the rain started to fall, but any Seattlite knows just how pleasant it can be when it’s already warm out. Clear umbrellas were provided to keep the rain off their heads, and soon it was time to get some group photos taken. Braving the rain, the ladies and gents looked superb in their deep red gowns and gray suits. The groom himself sported a darker suit and a bow tie, adding even more dapperness.
Emotional, heart-warming vows reduced the bride, groom and everyone else to a puddle of tears, and mentions of their grumpy cat brought everyone back from the brink. Hannah and TJ were ever-so ready to get hitched, and when the officiant finally gave them the magic words, they kissed and became husband and wife.
By the end of the ceremony, the sun had burnt enough of a hole in the clouds to let in some light. Retreating inside for some drinks and food, the newlyweds shared their first dance. With the rain gone, the cornhole boards were brought out, hot beverages were served and the partying began.
Once the sun had passed beyond the horizon, the dancing continued under twinkling lights. After the bouquet and garter toss, it was almost too dark to see. And so the newlyweds were sent off to start their life together as husband and wife.

TJ surprised me after first year law school finals with a trip to Maui. We had a wonderful week and planned to propose on a sunset dinner cruise. Unfortunately, the boat was not what he expected! It was a cloudy day and someone proposed behind us. TJ completely panicked! He rushed me off the boat and tried to find a place to propose on the beach, but the tide kicked in and the shore was rocky. He finally just flew his hands up and got down on one knee to propose.
Why did you choose your venue?
Maid of honor's sister had a beautiful wedding there and wanted to recreate that feeling.
What are you most excited to see in the video?
Moments of me getting ready, me and TJ, us with our families. TJ and I are a military couple and have not lived together in 2 years. We are looking forward to footage of us together because we don't have much of it.
Hannah and TJ's story in their own words:
Hannah and TJ met on a dating app in August of 2016 and had their first date at Lost Lake in Capitol Hill, Seattle. After a perfect date, TJ asked Hannah to be his girlfriend. After just three months of dating, TJ learned that he was being transferred to Seoul, South Korea for one year with the United States Army. Although the thought of TJ being out of the country for a year was daunting, they were determined to make the relationship work. For the next four months, Hannah and TJ made the most of their time together before TJ left for Korea. After TJ left in early March, it wasn't until June that TJ and Hannah were reunited. Hannah lived in Seoul with TJ for two and half months until their time was cut short by the conflicts with North Korea and the United States in August. She flew home and soon adopted their cat, Kimchi, before beginning law school in September.
After TJ finished his time in South Korea, he flew home for a month-long vacation in Washington. To Hannah's complete surprise, he told her that he had a weeklong vacation in Maui planned. At the end of an amazing week, TJ knelt down on one knee and proposed. As Hannah continued with law school, TJ began his Captain's Career Course at Fort Lee in Richmond, VA. On April 12, 2018, Hannah and TJ were married in a courthouse in Winchester, Virginia.
In the autumn of 2018, Hannah began her second-year of law school and TJ was promoted to Captain and transferred to Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas to serve within the 3rd Calvary Regiment. As both Hannah and TJ work towards their admirable career goals, they look forward to their wedding day, a special day where they can reunite and share their love for each other in front of friends and family.
