If there is anything we Americans have been good at during this quarantine, it’s drinking wine. Sales have skyrocketed in the weeks following shutdown orders; in March alone, sales were up $423 million. You might be wondering why I am talking about wine, and it’s because part of our next wedding to share with you was held at the fabulous JM Cellars in Woodinville. While they are temporarily closed now, they are still shipping out bottles of wine from their website, and we have weddings like the Trotters' that exemplify just how much we want them to reopen.

The fall colors were really something on a splendid October morning. With three hours before the ceremony, the morning moved along with smiles and excitement. Getting ready at the cellars feels almost like being at home. Bubbly was poured, and the coffee was piping hot, and soon enough it was time for the first of two first looks.

Megan made her way to the Bocce Court where she met her dad, who then escorted her to the pond to meet her groom. Amazed at her beautiful dress, Miles stood breathless and reined it in for a kiss. We started following them around getting shots in the forest and up by the venue. Everyone was then shuttled to St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Redmond for the ceremony.

We still had some time for some photos at the church, so we had the wedding party pose and give us all their best looks. Eager to get married, the guests and party entered the church. After a wonderful ceremony, filled with readings from Jeremiah and Philippians, Father Johnson gave them the go ahead to kiss. In the sight of their loved ones and God, Megan and Miles became husband and wife.

Before leaving, the newlyweds signed their license in the Sacristy, and then proceeded to take some family photos. With plenty of photos taken, and more surely to come, it was time to head back to JM for the reception. There was still a bit of time for the newlyweds to relax before joining the reception, so guests began to mingle throughout.

The newlyweds arrived, and boy what a grand entrance. They kicked off a series of five different dances, with their first dance before the parent dances, followed by two more songs on their own. Dinner (and definitely the wine) were served, and led way into the toasts. Once everyone had shared their love for the newlyweds, the cake was cut and distributed (they had multiple flavors!) before the traditional bouquet/garter tosses.

Dancing would get everyone on their feet, and the dazzling lights and decorations in the hall made it feel almost like a rave. Their send off, to balloons filled with LEDS, was a sight to behold!

How did you guys meet?

We met on Tinder. I was in town for the holidays visiting my family, and Megan had just moved here. She had never been to any of the tourist spots around town, so I gave her the ultimate tourist date, starting at the Space Needle for drinks, followed by the Chihuly Glass Museum, a ride on the monorail down to Pike Place, and ended the night at Pike Brewery. Given that it was a Tinder date, I built in "escape" points at each section if things weren't going well, but altogether it ended up being about an 8 hour date.

Tell us about the proposal!

We had been wanting to stay in a tree house for a long time and booked a weekend out to Whidbey Island to stay in one through Airbnb for our anniversary (5 month advanced booking). I was planning to propose then, but the night before we were getting ready to head up, a wind storm came through and knocked out the power to whole island, so our trip got cancelled. Fast forward a couple weeks, and we got an email from the host saying there was an opening in a few weeks, so we booked it again in January. We went on a hike at Ebey's Landing and when we got to the top of the bluff, I had her look at something on the water while I got down on one knee. She was shocked in that instant, but to my surprise, she was so ready for it to happen on that hike, that she had picked up her "perfect" pine cone on the hike that she was going to use to propose to me somewhere on the hike because she was so ready for it to happen. (We dated for 3 years - I didn't make her wait that long, but she was so certain of me that "things needed to happen")

Why did you choose your venue?

Megan had a few picked out for where she would be open to getting married, and after weighing the various factors that go into choosing a venue (price, travel time, potential attendance), we really like the scenery of JM Cellars and the fact that we could have our wedding at a winery, while having the ceremony nearby at the local catholic church.

What are you most excited to see in the video?

We are most excited to have the ceremony and reception covered in video format so that we can look back 10 years from now and relive the day. Some people attending the wedding will not be with us in 10 years, and so it will be nice to have this to go back to and spark memories.
