Best Made Videos® June 2018 Newsletter

June 2018 Newsletter

Greetings everyone!  Reid here with Best Made Videos®.  Our June 2018 newsletter actually starts out with the last weekend of April.  I had the great opportunity to spend some time with Allison and Mercedes down near Alki beach in preparation for their upcoming wedding this September.  The two wanted to put together a "pre-wedding" video, where we interviewed each of them discussing their engagement, the proposal, and of course what each one of them loves most about the other.  We are still finalizing edits on their video, but I can't wait to share it with you in an upcoming newsletter.

I took the podcast on the road this month! First stop: just a few miles away to Stephanie Skeffinton's home office, where I interviewed her about her wedding photography company, Seattle Flashing Lights Photography.  It was also a productive business meeting as we spoke about potentially combining forces on some upcoming weddings where she would provide the photography and we would do the videography.  Second stop:  Skagit County, where I sat down with both Taryn Holmstrom of Skagit County Wedding Rentals and Dan Manning of Dan Manning Photography for future episodes of our podcast - Get to Know Your Wedding Pro.

I received an email earlier this month inviting us to the Seattle Bride Best of 2018 awards ceremony.  Although I wasn't sure if that meant that we were nominated or not, (lol) I have been assured from my dear friend Alan Chitlik that we are.  This is a tremendous honor and it means the world to me because these awards include not only voting from the general public, but from fellow wedding vendors as well.  We will be attending the awards show on June 19 and I will be excited to see what unfolds!

Memorial Day weekend is usually the kick off to our wedding season here at Best Made Videos, and this last weekend was no exception!  We spent Saturday working with a phenomenal team of wedding vendors for Jason and Stephania's wedding down at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center on the Seattle waterfront.  Teaming with Rebecca from New Creations as their wedding planner/coordinator and Sean Hoyt of Affinity Photography as their wedding photographer, their wedding day was absolute perfection from start to finish.  I actually plan to begin editing their wedding video once I finish writing this newsletter!

Sunday of Memorial Day weekend found us at Indian Summer in Lacey, Washington for the wedding of Jessica and AJ.  Months of planning led to AJ and Jessica having the BEST wedding day the two could have possibly hoped for.  Teaming up with Megan Montalvo as their wedding photographer, we had a blast exploring the grounds around their wedding venue.  After their grand entrance into the reception with around 250 people, we snuck the two away for a few last sunset shots.  The love between these two is infectious and I actually remarked at one point that I wish the two were "more comfortable" with each other, if that could even be possible. ;)

May started out with a BANG with 3 weddings on the same weekend.  Getting to put together Jazmyn and Josh's same day edit for their wedding day on Cinco de Mayo will forever be one of the highlights of my career.  I actually flew up my good friend Matt Clements from Los Angeles to help out for the day.  He, Jeff and myself took turns shooting, editing and importing footage to complete this video by the time the couple made their grand entrance into their reception.  Capturing drone  footage the week before was the finally cherry on top to give this amazing couple a wedding video they can cherish forever!

Getting to spend May 6 with Emily and Charlie was a breath of fresh air.  These two were so happy, calm, and in love! It really was as "easy" as a wedding day could possibly be.  Getting to head back up to Hidden Meadows in Snohomish county, these two brought together all of the people that they love in their lives to witness their wedding.  I was honored to be included in that list and to record their wedding video.

I love the Monte Cristo Ballroom in Everett, and I love the kind of people who get married there.  Lauren and Ronnie were SO happy and SO in love on their wedding day, I couldn't believe it.  Getting to wander around the various streets, alleyways, nooks and crannies around the Ballroom taking their portraits was a blast.  These two balled their eyes out during their wedding ceremony (so did I to be honest) and even had a confetti cannon during their recessional.  Be sure to check out their wedding video for sure!

We released 4 new episodes of the podcast this month including our interviews with Stephanie Skeffington of Seattle Flashing Lights Photography, Heather and Ryan Shipley of Events by Heather and Ryan and Danielle Yellam of VANity Photo Bus.  The response to our new podcast series Get to Know Your Wedding Pro has been better than I ever could have expected! In addition, we now have a backlog of interviews (both recorded and scheduled to be recorded) that should last us at least 1/2 way through the summer.  Check out the entire podcast feed on: www.soundcloud.com/bestmadevideos. And please let me know if there is anybody that you would like to hear from in an upcoming wedding vendor interview!

Monthly Videography Tip!

Communication is key!

Both of our weddings from this past weekend had one thing in common, GREAT communication.  When it comes to planning your wedding day you have to be in communication with all of your wedding vendors if you want it to be as successful as possible.  Knowing what is going to happen, how it is going to happen and when it is going to happen is paramount for me to do my job to the best of my abilities.  I so appreciate all of my great couples taking the time to respond to my countless "check in" emails as we approach your wedding day because it really pays off in the end.  Whether you are working with a wedding planner, (like Rebecca from New Creations for our Saturday wedding) or you are planning the wedding yourself like Jessica and AJ, making sure all of your vendors are on the same page is the most important thing you can do to ensure yourself a successful wedding day.

My job wouldn't be complete without including a nice image of ROSIE!  Summer means hot weather and lots of pictures of tired Rosie on our long walks, here is one from a few weeks ago!  Love that little friend...

Thank you all for checking out our monthly newsletter!  June is shaping up to be another exciting month.  We have a wedding every Saturday from now through July and Joe will have weddings as well as we approach the end of June.  This Saturday we are at JM Cellars for Sima and Peter's wedding alongside Arlene Chambers and June 9 we get to spend the day with Ruby and Ash.  I still have to finish the edits for Stephania and Jason's wedding and I'm also working on finish up some edits to some recent corporate video projects as well.  As always, thanks again for your support, I'm off to edit some more wedding videos and to update our blog.  Have a good one!
