August 2018 Newsletter

Greetings everyone!  Reid here with Best Made Videos®.  We finished out June with a fantastic Friday afternoon wedding with Breanne and Erick at Within Sodo in Seattle.  These two had purchased their wedding videography package from us at Get Hitched, Give Hope charity auction back in the Fall.  We met Erick at the Olympic Sculpture park near the Seattle waterfront.  After a fantastic "first look" and a series of wedding portraits with Wiley Putnam, (a fantastic local wedding photographer) we made our way through the city for their wedding ceremony.  The rooftop at Within Sodo gives absolutely breath-taking views of the city, the stadiums and even the water.  Surrounded by family and friends, these two danced the night away (including Breanne with a dislocated knee!) and had a wedding day that they will remember always (especially with the help of our wedding videography, lol).

We rounded out the month of June with a great wedding right in our own backyard.  Caroline and Nathan got married at Salty's in West Seattle (you'll remember Dorothy and I got married there back in 2016) and had a beautiful early Summer wedding day.  Getting ready at her parent's house in West Seattle, Caroline and Nathan tied the knot at her grade school church (Holy Rosary in West Seattle) before heading to the legendary seafood restaurant for a night of drinking, dancing, and general merriment!  The waterfront in West Seattle makes for some truly stunning wedding photos, with the whole of downtown Seattle visible in the distance.  It's always ironic to me that the best views of Seattle have to be seen by actually leaving the city.  Traveling across the West Seattle bridge gives you the distance you need to enjoy the city in all of its glory and the view never gets old.
Their wedding video is filled with all sorts of wonderful candid moments, you should check it out for yourself to enjoy all of the fun - https://vimeo.com/282430677

Before June came to a close, we found ourselves out in Port Orchard, Washington for the wedding of Alee and Alex.  This was a wedding that we had had on the books for almost 2 years, as both the bride and groom were dating long distance and finishing school, all while trying to plan a wedding!  Wanting to solidify things early so they wouldn't have to worry about them, they booked us and their photographer, Betty Globa, almost 2 years in advance.  That's a lot of pressure for me to have such a special day on the calendar for so long, but luckily for everyone involved the day went off without a hitch and it couldn't have been more beautiful or special.  Besides a touching wedding ceremony full of laughs, tears, jokes (thanks to Alex) and more, the chemistry and love between these two is undeniable.

July started with an excursion across the ocean to Piedmont, Italy for the wedding of two of our dear friends, Roxy and Zach.  These two chose to get married at Villa Beccaris in the middle of wine country and to say the view was breathtaking would be an understatement!  Dorothy met Roxy studying abroad in college and these two, along with a close group of friends, have stayed in touch constantly throughout the years even though they all live in different parts of the country.  This wedding gave them another great excuse not only to get together, but to travel, to have a little bit (ok a lot of fun), and to cheers to the wedding of one of their best friends.  Attending simply as guests, Dorothy and I were able to cut loose and dance the night away in what will be one of the most memorable trips of our lives!

Following Roxy and Zach's wedding, Dorothy and I took a 2 week vacation (in the middle of wedding season, I know...I know...) to see some of the wonderful cities in the Northern part of Italy including Milan and Venice.  Taking the train to Venice was definitely one of the high points of the trip, as  was wandering the various paths and canals that make up the city.  Even though she had lived in Spain and traveled throughout Europe, Dorothy had never made it to Venice so this was quite a treat for her!

In the midst of a crazy July / August wedding season, Dorothy and I (plus Rosie) took a short trip down to Portland, Oregon to visit McMenamins, Edgefield to celebrate our two year wedding anniversary!  Taking Rosie was an added bonus as we all had a blast exploring the area, drinking some beer/wine and hiking the trails.  This picture was taken in front of Multnomah Falls where Rosie (clearly) was having the time of her life!  It was good to get away for a couple of days, take some time to ourselves (for our anniversary), and recharge before heading back to work to finish up the rest of our August weddings!

Rob and Kristine was another long time wedding in the making, as these two originally inquired about our wedding videography services almost a year to the date before their wedding.  Taking almost 6 months of emails, follow ups, and lots of thinking (on their part) these two finally decided to join the Best Made Videos family and I could not be more thrilled!  Having a perfect wedding day in early July, these two got ready in downtown Seattle before heading to St. Joe's Catholic Church to tie the knot in front of all of their family and friends.  Their reception at the Daybreak Star Center near Discovery Park was the cherry on top of a perfect wedding celebration. Also, Rob's infamous dance moves make me laugh out loud every time I see them!

Katie and Seth's wedding day at the Camas Meadows Golf Course was nothing short of amazing.  Their wedding day was ABSOLUTELY perfect, and I was so glad we got to travel down to Camas (just outside of Portland) to help capture it.  Stunning portraits throughout the property, a very heartfelt wedding ceremony and a sunset portrait session to end all portrait sessions, rank this as one of my favorite wedding days in recent memory.  What are you doing?  Check out their highlight video now!  LOL

Monthly Videography Tip!

You never know the places you'll go and how awesome they'll be!!!

When Tricia contacted me back in January for her July wedding in Mazama, Washington, I said, "Where?"  I had never heard of the Freestone Inn before and I had no idea what to expect when we arrived.  With 8 hours of round-trip travel (4 hours each way) this venue was going to have to be pretty spectacular to make up for all of the work getting there...and boy did it!  Talk about this stunning photo, this incredible scene and this amazing couple.  I was so happy with every single shot that we captured all day- each setting was more beautiful than the next!  I can't wait to finish the edits on this wedding video so that Tricia and Kent can have to to enjoy always, stay tuned!!!

My job wouldn't be complete without including a nice image of ROSIE!  Rosie was hanging out on the bed the other day and I thought I would snap a little iPhone pic!  Love that little friend...

Thank you all for checking out our monthly newsletter!  August is shaping up to be another exciting month.  We have a wedding tomorrow at the Woodmark in Kirkland, Washington followed by a couple of August 18 weddings (the most popular wedding date of the year).  After that we head up to one of my favorite venues, The Monte Cristo in Everett, Washington to round out the month!  As always, thanks again for your support, I'm off to edit some more wedding videos and to update our blog.  Have a good one!
