Well wouldn’t you know it, Seattle finally got some snow! Which means, for anybody who lives here, that the city is pretty much shut down. It’s bad enough when it rains and people drive like maniacs, but when it snows, only the brave and capable should be out on the road. So while cars are slip-sliding all around the city, it’s time to get back into some weird and wild wedding news! This time around we’ve got more celebrity weddings, a touching reminder of a failed marriage and yes, you guessed it, cake to top it all off. Let’s get to it!
We were all deeply saddened when Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow ended their marriage back in 2014. Already re-married to Brad Falchuk (just this past September, actually), Gwyneth posted a photo on Instagram around Christmas time showing off her fireplace and stockings. There’s Brad, Gwyneth, Apple and Moses, but the noticeable inclusion is former hubbie Chris, who gets his own between their two two kids.
It might not be much, or leave you with a sense of warmth and happiness, but they are definitely getting along and remind us why they were so wonderful together in the first place!
This wedding seems pretty timely as we’re in the midst of a snowstorm! Only two days after Christmas, So You Think You Can Dance finalist, Jensen Arnold, got hitched to her highschool sweetheart, Topher Hill. On a not-so-typical Thursday, the two met at the Salt Lake City Temple in Utah for their big day. Older sister Lindsay Arnold served as matron of honor and the bridesmaids rocked some lovely burgundy dresses.
Blanketed with snow, the pictures are marvelous. Though, they certainly make you want to grab for a coat. The ceremony was followed up by a reception at the Sleepy Ridge in Orem. Congrats to the newlyweds!
Aside from being a brilliant newspaper, the Washington Post also just published a great article on the “hierarchy” of celebrity weddings. Using the secretive Cyrus-Hemsworth wedding (their wedding was held during a holiday week with no warning) as a jumping-off point, they also mention Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough’s wedding before moving on to the Kloss/Kushner wedding which pretty much stuck to the same idea.
But then they move onto the more extravagant affairs, like the recent Jonas/Chopra wedding that featured sponsorship. Check out the article for more of what makes up the hierarchy!
The time, care and artistry that goes into making a wedding cake is astounding--and the culture behind the cakes themselves is a little overwhelming. This article from Vogue takes a critical look at some of the trends from 2018 that we could do without in 2019, and certainly raises a few eyebrows at the same time.
Take for instance the “Wonky Cakes,” which look like someone got drunk, knocked your cake over, and reassembled it like Jenga. The article says “we get what you’re trying to do here,” but do they really? I mean sure it’s cutesy, but at a moment’s glance it just looks...wrong. Dig into the article for some more weird cakes!
