Welcome back for another edition of Behind the Scenes, where we take you into the nitty-gritty of the wedding day. From the proposals to the catering, we shine a light on the lesser-seen aspects of what goes into a wedding these days. With plenty more to come from this past summer to warm out chilly spirits, we are getting to know the James Wedding this week. Let’s see how we ended up taking a trip out to Swiftwater Cellars!
July 20, 2019
We love any sort of school-sweetheart stories, and the Jameses are one of them! Meeting freshman year down at Trinity University in San Antonio, Kendrick and Emily were introduced by mutual friends. Their first hangout featured some country western dancing, and the first date to follow saw Kendrick planning a romantic mini-golf excursion complete with a picnic and popsicles!
To make it even more romantic, following their first date a running-joke was put into place. If Emily and Kendrick made it to 365 dates, they would go to France. Naturally, Kendrick started keeping a journal of their “late night Whataburger runs and formal dinners,” eventually gifting the (partially) incomplete journal to Emily for Valentine’s Day. Since then, she has been in control of the journal which will be exchanged back to Kendrick on their way to Paris. If that doesn’t tickle your heart, I do not know what will!
Their proposal was, just like the journal, well thought out and now we arrive at the wedding day! Opting for Swiftwater Cellars, due to their mutual love of wine-tasting and for the sheer epic beauty of the Cascades. Along with their accommodating nature, Swiftwater Cellars really is a phenomenal place to get hitched, or just to enjoy the scenery and vino!
Our day with Kendrick and Emily got started bright and early. Arriving before 10am, we got to setting up shots of the parties getting ready and their lovely outfits. With a little wiggle room before it was time to head out for the first look.
With prime location for a variety of nature shots, the adorable first look let us show off the amazing grounds around Suncadia Resort. Several hours of photos would follow, with the rest of the party joining in, and then the family, before it was time to tuck the bride away to get touched up before the big extravaganza.
The overlook altar gazes off into the tree-covered hills, and provided the perfect spot to get married. By the time 4:30 rolled around, we now had some newlyweds and it was time for the cocktail hour. This is where we get to highlight some of the other vendors of the day: notice the awesome chalkboard signs? Credit that to Lauren Scott! Swiftwater supplied the food, while Lush Desserts by Amy provided supreme cake and cupcakes. Carol Allamand of Where Style Blooms provided the flowers for the day, too!
Pristine Entertainment brought the party shortly after, blasting out catchy tunes to get booties shaking.
After about 12 hours, our time with the Jameses came to an end! Thank you again to Kendrick and Emily for choosing Best Made Videos® to film their big day! We hope your first four months have been great!
