If you were lucky enough to find any coffee, tea or cocoa leftover at the grocery stores following the mad-dash to prepare for whatever Seattle has decided to name these snow storms, then bundle up with a blanket and get ready to head back to the Boyar Wedding. We return to the Semiahmoo Resort in this Behind the Scenes look, our series that gives you more detail about what went on during the wedding day. Chosen for its location, and ease for their guests, the Semiahmoo Resort played host to Carrie and Phil’s weekend wedding celebration.
Carrie and Rob met through mutual friends in Seattle, though both are from the East Coast. With a dose of sentimentality, he then proposed to Carrie at their first date restaurant, Joule, and had it so their friends and family arrived the next day to celebrate the whole weekend. Matching that, this wedding weekend was already off to a great start when we arrived at noon on September 1st.
Along with Amy Soper Photography (and Assistant Photographer Bronwen), we got to Blaine at noon. In the full swing of getting ready, the soon-to-be-newlyweds had a full team helping them prepare. Anne Timss was doing Makeup and Hair, and Carrie was donning her dress from Bellevue Bridal. A few more names to toss out: PA Jens Custom Sewing, Fena Flowers, and Perfect Press all had a hand in making this day a success, along with Olivia Marsh’s calligraphy and Jen Taylor of Taylor’d Events Group who oversaw it all.
Once the gents were finished dressing up at the Resort, they made their way over to the AirBnB where Carrie and the ladies were adding the final touches. From there, it would be several hours of photos as we witnessed the first look and walked back along the beach to the Resort. After almost three hours of photos, it was time for a quick breather before the ceremony was set to start at 5.
Following the ceremony, it was time for a full hour or so of cocktails while the newlyweds had plenty of time to relax for a bit. They made their grand entrance after 7 and got ready for dinner. As the sunset for that day was at 7:52, we got out with them for some golden hour shots right after dinner.
The newlyweds would return for toasts shortly thereafter, and dancing kicked off at 8:40. Thanks to OnCore, the reception was a blast. Wander Rentals helped with the decor and other furnishings, and Bellair Charters made sure everyone had safe transportation.
Following the Hora at 8:55, the true partying began and kept on going even after we left at 10pm. What an absolute joy of a day!
Thank you once again to Carrie and Phil for picking Best Made Videos® to film their day. We hope your first few months of marriage have been as grand as your wedding day!
