"Reid & Jeff are just awesome people all around. We loved hanging with them on our wedding day, it was like they were extra bridal party members - they felt like our best friends from the moment they introduced themselves to us (on the morning of the wedding). When we were in the middle of wedding planning, my husband wasn't convinced that we needed video but I couldn't imagine not being able to re-watch our ceremony and toasts. I found Best Made Videos during my videographer research and started laughing, then crying when watching highlight videos from other peoples' weddings. So that's when I knew that I wasn't going to get married without hiring Best Made Videos. Reid & Jeff were beyond accommodating (Reid even re-scheduled his own honeymoon so that he would be in town to shoot our wedding), they showed up 20 minutes ahead of schedule and trekked all over Seattle with us because we wanted to take photos in 4 different locations. On the second day of our honeymoon, we woke up to an email from Reid telling us our highlight video was done! We loved it, but there was one clip that I wondered if Reid might be able to edit. 30 minutes later, I had an email response from Reid confirming the edit was complete and the video was good to go - no extra charge, no extra week delay, nothing. We were amazed. About a week after that, Reid provided us with our full ceremony, full toasts, and all raw video taken the day of our wedding. Reid runs his company with a level of service, care, professionalism, quality, and fun that outshined all of our other vendors. We would work with Best Made Videos again anytime."

Of all the artists to make their way out of Seattle, Dale Chihuly is perhaps the most famous out of all of the “visual” artists, not including names like Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix. His works can be seen all over the world and he is often considered the world’s most famous glass artist. Swirling, spiraling pieces full of color and form, his sculptures captivate all who see them. For bride and groom Maria and Adam, the Chihuly Garden and Glass down at Seattle Center seemed the perfect venue for their reception following a traditional wedding at St. Benedict's in Seattle.

On a beautiful July day the two parties started the day off separately--both with massive entourages in tow. Perfectionist Adam could be seen going to town on his jacket with a lint-roller to ensure every single last pesky piece of lint was removed from his suit--we’ve featured this moment before in our Best Wedding Video Surprises--and even later he can be seen still picking at this sleeve.

On a sunlit hill, the two met for their first look with not a single cloud in the sky. With a radiating smile--and some cutesy playfulness--Adam turned around to greet his bride with nothing but love and happiness. Almost instantly, he starts to cry--which he was teased about--but tears are almost always a good thing on a wedding day. The video is absolutely gorgeous here, with brilliant lighting to showcase the vibrant whites of the wedding gown and the deep purples of the bridesmaids dresses. A finger shoot-out interrupts the first look (as you’ll recognize from our Best Bridal Party Moments) but soon it’s back to silliness and smiles with shots overlooking the Space Needle.

Heading on over to the church, the beautiful interiors are so full of light with the sun streaking in through the windows that it takes one’s breath away. The formal ceremony went off without a hitch as everyone readied themselves to head over the the Chihuly Garden for one of the most colorful receptions we’ve ever filmed. With all the sculpture work it’s quite easy to find yourself distracted by Chihuly’s mastery. As Adam and Maria danced around the sculptures, the bright sun helped illuminate the interiors.

In the main hall, underneath a twisting orange and red sculpture, the first dance and cake-cutting were beautiful sights. Shooting here is so fun because of how the light plays with the sculptures and scatters patches of multi-color rays around the floor. They soon disappeared once the sun went down and the disco lights went up, but that didn’t stop the partying!

At the end of the day, the Nelson Wedding was one of our favorites from the past summer. Even just a simple sunny day in Seattle is one of the most beautiful things we Seattleites can experience--but when you combine that with a beautiful venue for both the wedding and the reception, it just adds all the more to it. Thank you to Adam and Maria for letting us video your wedding, we hope you’re having a great year!
