Oh Summer, how we miss you so. As unseasonably cold weather creeps over our region, it is hard not to think back to warmer, sunnier times. Take the Smith wedding, for instance, that occurred partway through July when it was perfectly fine to go outside without a coat. The Smiths picked a wonderful day for their downtown Seattle wedding, with early morning clouds that burned off by the time the ceremony got going and a pleasant heat that brought out the shorts early on in the day.
If for some reason the Escala looks or sounds familiar to you, then I hate to betray the fact that you are a connoisseur of the Fifty Shades of Grey series. The Escala, not too far from Pike Place Market, is an extravagant venue that now is forever tied to the salacious novels, though it was certainly standing well on its own prior to the success of the series. We were glad to spend the day there.
An army of bridesmaids and groomsmen got ready high above the city, it was apparent that we were in for a fun day. The drinks started flowing early, and as the respective parties started looking more dapper and chic, the buildup and excitement grew for the First Look.
Meeting on a terrace, the soon-to-be-newlyweds were looking ravishing. Logan rocked a double-breasted jacket and bowtie while Madison looked radiant in her dress. Hardly able to contain herself, she approached Logan from behind and the two burst into laughter before embracing. It’s what comes next that makes us smile: Madison calls out for some shots of tequila to a very agreeing crowd. You better bet they got their shots!
Looking regal and elegant as can be, the bride and groom posed like royalty for us. We got plenty of shots of them looking like they were scheming to takeover the world. When it came time for the ceremony, the family and friends filled the grounds in a little opening outside. Their hilarious, personal vows made us smile and shed a tear, even when Madison claimed her friend wrote the vows. Taking a brief moment to not let the emotions overwhelm her, Madison kept on the laughs with...intimate...moments (it’s funny, trust us!)
Soon enough, they were now newlyweds. Husband and wife rocked their way down the aisle before making their way outside for some group photos. After getting the official bureaucracy out of the way, they made their way back inside for the reception. With plenty of food and booze (who doesn’t love an open bar?) served up, everyone was feeling ready to dance. And so they danced and partied the night away. With some new dance moves we have never seen before, we certainly learned a thing or two about what is considered hip now!
