It’s funny to think that when we talk about weddings from “last summer,” we can also say “last decade.” 2020 is off to a decently mild start in terms of weather here in the Pacific Northwest, but that is likely to change here in a couple weeks as the freezing temps come back. We are back today with a Behind the Scenes look at the Yokley Wedding at West of the Waterway! In case you missed the first time around, check here!
College sweethearts who met at a Halloween party, Kishana and Eric were splendidly excited all throughout the day. We arrived at noon, along with Reyallan Thompson of Nallayer Studios (he does some seriously epic stuff!) and got to work getting the shots of the final preparations. Glam with Sham did the makeup today, and the ladies sure looked radiant! The ladies and gents got their own separate photo sessions starting at 1pm. The Tacoma waterfront is a really great area nowadays, especially on a warm Summer afternoon. As Kishana described it, “the lighting is perfect and not to mention I get to feel like I got married at a fancy yacht club without the price tag.” Hard to argue with that reason!
At 3:15 the couples were tucked away to relax before the big moment. Guests started to arrive at 3:30, and at 4:05 the processional was set to begin. West of the Waterway is one of those great year-round venues that offers both indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces. Thanks to all of the coordination from Blue Wing Events (Angela Strecker and Stacy Asher representing!) the ceremony was a wonderful success.
At 4:40, the newlyweds went off to sign the certificates really quick before taking photos with the entire family. The rest of the bridal party got in on the fun a little while later, while the guests mingled and enjoyed appetizers served by Jonz Catering. The grand entrance took place shortly before 6pm just as dinner was placed on the buffet line. Toasts were given at 6:40 while everyone enjoyed their food, and like a flash it was time to feast on cake. This might be one of our favorite cake-cuttings of the year, so check it out!
Power Team Entertainment got the music pumping while everyone finished up their cake and made their way onto the dance floor. What followed was nearly 3 hours of dancing, partying and having a superb time. Last call for drinks went out at 9pm, and the dancers slowly wore down until the last song started at 9:45. At 10pm the day was officially over and takedown began.
