As I write this, it is immensely chilly. Snow is in the forecast (finally?) and if it is anything like last year…Seattle, you better be ready. While talk of summer weddings might not melt away the ice and snow, we hope that it at least warms up your heart and bolsters your spirits in these cold, dark times. This time around is the Yokley Wedding from near the end of August. A wonderful day in Tacoma down on the waterfront by the Dome saw the union of Kishana and Eric. Let’s take a look, shall we?
An early afternoon start to the festivities allowed for some hopefully well-rested soon-to-be-weds. The bride and groom were getting dressed at a Marriott and preparations were being made at the venue, West of the Waterway. Tacoma has surely become one of the hippest places in the area over recent years, and it’s no surprise that we keep having more and more weddings down here!
Once the bride and groom were all dressed, they had their own photo sessions on the waterfront and around the area. Pathways surrounded by a variety of greenery proved a quaint backdrop down in the midst of a large city. With radiant smiles all around, the happiness was through the roof. After the ladies and gents had their respective photos, we got the rest of the family involved for even more smiles and laughs.
By mid-afternoon, the big events were primed to go. Guests started to arrive, anticipation was building and the excitement to get hitched was palpable. One of the best parts of West of the Waterway is their ability to have both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. The Yokley’s was a mixture of the two, with a wide opening behind the altar looking out on the waterfront and a roof over their heads.
Magic words said and done, we had a fresh set of newlyweds! There was plenty of time for some more photos outside as the husband and wife were beaming with joy. The rest of the families, too, exuberant about the union of their two children. Guests were then moved to the reception area and treated to dinner shortly thereafter.
Rejuvenated with delicious grub in their bellies, the dancing portion of the evening began (after cake, of course) with the traditional couples and parents dance. The rest of the party joined in afterwards, and the newlyweds danced along with them until they snuck off for golden hour photos. We miss the days of the sun setting after 5pm, but soon they will be back.
After a couple more hours of dancing, the night had to come to an end. Thank you to Kishana and Eric for choosing Best Made Videos® to film their wedding day! We hope you are enjoying the first five months of your marriage!

Kishana and Eric’s story in their own words:
How did you guys meet?
We met at a Halloween party in college. After a game of truth or dare he knew I was the one.
Tell us about the proposal!
Eric gathered all of our close family & friends at one of our favorite restaurants and he was so nervous he got down on one knee and popped the question before dinner even started.
Why did you choose your venue?
The venue is perfect! I can be inside or outside if I chose. The lighting is perfect and not to mention I get to feel like I got married at a fancy yacht club without the price tag =)
What are you most excited to see in the video?
The ceremony and how the moment is captured.
