We are in a new year and a new decade, everyone! But don’t worry, we will still be going back to last year to bring you more summer weddings! Now that we are in the 20s, the 10s feel so far away. Today is another deep-dive into one of our favorite summer weddings: the Dixon Wedding. If you need a refresher, click here! Our “Behind the Scenes” series focuses on the finer details of the wedding day, and today we get to explore one of the coolest venues in West Seattle. Let’s take a look!
A love found on YouTube, Lindsay followed Ian on Twitter back in 2015 and started responding to his Tweets. He followed her back, and thanks to their mutual nerdiness, they both wanted to attend PAX Prime in Seattle. You know, that weekend where everything in downtown Seattle turns into the most awesome nerd convention.
They talked about being hotel roommates, but the plan fell through after there were no rooms with two beds, and then Ian ended up being deployed to Afghanistan anyway. While he was gone, the chatting started again and it never stopped. By the end of 2016, their romance was in full swing.
Their wedding day got going at the Aloft Seattle SeaTac hotel. We arrived at 3:30 and had plenty of time to get shots of everyone getting ready along with Laurel McConnell, the photographer for the day. Hair was done by William James Hair Salon, and the ladies rocked it in their blue dresses. Once we were off to the fabulous Salty’s on Alki for the ceremony, things kicked into high gear.
Already a restaurant featuring some delectable seafood and steaks, Salty’s does not disappoint in the slightest when it comes to a wedding venue. A spacey lower floor that leads out onto a walkway over the water that allows you to take in the majestic view of the city across the Sound. Guests would soon be arriving.
After some group shots out on the docks and a chance for a breather, the wedding got going at 6:30, presided over by friend Mike Robles. Before 7 hit, we had the newlyweds! Food, as mentioned before, would soon be served after being cooked right inside the building. Like everything else for the day, it was spectacular.
A solid chunk of time let us enjoy the feast, but stomach-space was saved for the cake-cutting. The lovely three-tier cake from Nancy Kay was a work of art, topped with a lovely bunch of flowers. It wasn’t too long before DJ Mike Ingham of Otto-Matic Mobile Music started the first dances. The party kept on until we started to bleed into a new day, with things finally wrapping up around midnight.
Thank you once again to Lindsay and Ian for choosing Best Made Videos® to film your wedding day! We hope your first five months of marriage have been going grand. Have any questions or comments? Think the Dixons should be featured in our Favorites of 2019 Countdown? Let us know!
