If you have ever been a part of one in any capacity, then you know just how much goes into one and how many ways weird moments can end up on the internet. That’s where we come in: to sift through all the wackiness to find our favorite stories to share with you. Some are happy, some are sad, and most are informative about what the state of the wedding world is like. This time around we have got deadlifting brides, 2020 bridesmaids dress trends, and more!

Let us start things off with a debate: how early is the earliest you would ever want to start a wedding? For most people, probably not before 10am. With all the prep work on the day of, that would require getting up far earlier than would be restful for such a monumental day. That brings us to the article: a bride and groom want their wedding to be at the oh-so-lovely time of 5:30am.

A couple posted on Reddit about how they have been receiving complaints from their guests who say the wedding start time is not “normal.” The bride described in her post that essentially this is their anniversary tradition they have followed every year, and that to her it is more about the “symbolism of watching a new day begin.” To make it even more fun, they included Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas and a breakfast reception (something that would normally be more inviting than an early start time).

A handful of commenters added helpful advice, while others simply said they disagreed with it and that the couple should expect low attendance. So, dear readers, what do you think?

Marie Claire had some helpful advice near the end of 2019 about what bridesmaids should be wearing in the first year of the new decade. According to Louie Tew, the co-founder of the bridesmaid dress label TH&TH, the color known as “lagoon” will be mighty popular. From the photos it appears almost like teal, but more green than blue, or as Louie puts it “This shade is to green what navy is to blue.”

Louie also gave advice for those wanting warmer colors, “Lemon is rising in popularity due to its borderline neutral tone, making it more daring than ivory or cream, while not detracting from these classic hues.”

What dresses have you chosen for your brides this year? Lagoon or Lemon? Let us know!

We love any wedding that does things a little differently, and even more so the ones that really put a spin on tradition. Lisa Yang and Wek Hernandez’ wedding in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park was definitely one we wish we could have filmed, but alas we still get to see one of the biggest highlights online.

Instead of stepping on glass, lighting a candle or otherwise, the newlyweds did a tandem deadlift of 253lbs to honor the fitness side of their relationship. For those that know them, it was not too surprising as the two would frequently workout as their dates, and leading up to the wedding they were training “at least three days a week for the past two to three years.” Hernandez said that, “It was meant to not only be a symbol of unity but also a statement: ‘individually, we are strong, capable women, but together we are stronger.”

She later went on to say that, “Seeing our photos while lifting, one of our bridesmaids seemed repulsed?” Perhaps she was really just amazed that anybody could lift that much weight. The thought of that makes my entire body ache.

Congrats to the both of them and we hope they are getting even stronger now that they are together!

Normally with cake, it is a happy story. This time is one of those catastrophic disasters you wish was part of some movie. But sometimes there are just awful people in the world and we hate having to give them a spotlight. Luckily, this guy won’t be named.

Coming out of the UK, a post on Facebook’s That’s It I’m Wedding Shaming tells about a horrible cake-cutting ceremony that essentially ruined the entire wedding (and eventually marriage). The post describes how the groom got way too inebriated before the ceremony even began, and when the time cake for the cutting, he “took the entire top tier of the cake and smasher it on her face.”

It is then described that there were attempts to play it off, but the mother of the bride had had enough and left. The post also says how much the bride was begged to leave the groom, but that it “wasn’t until she found out he had gotten another girl pregnant that she left him” about a year later.

Commenters were quick to toss in support and condolences, while most were rightfully giving the former groom a thorough tongue-lashing.

How would you have reacted to something like this if you were a guest? In all honesty, it is quite surprising the cops weren’t called!
