“My husband and I highly recommend Best Made Videos and Reid. He’s an amazing communicator, even when it took a while to decide if we wanted a videographer or not. He emailed highlights of weddings he recently completed weekly and honestly if he didn’t do that, we probably wouldn’t have booked him. We love the editing style and how he thought to incorporate our first dance song that we sung and recorded into the video. Thanks Reid and Best Made Videos for what you captured! We’ll truly cherish for a lifetime!!”
Well, Punxsatawney Phil did not see his own shadow, which means we should be in for an early Spring. But we still aren’t out of the woods, er…winter….yet and there are some freezing temperatures in the forecast. Nevertheless, we are continually reminded of our splendid wedding season from 2019 and taken back to those lovely summer days. This time around, we take a trip back to the Kurdy’s location-hopping wedding!
Back in September, when Seattle’s true, indecisive nature started to rear its ugly head, the Kurdys were greeted with some overcast skies for part of the day. The temp wasn’t what it could be, but nothing to stop natives who were ready to get hitched. Best part is, most of the day didn’t need to be spent outdoors, as the first part of the day was spent getting ready and playing arcade games. When the final touches were placed, Luke and Roxanne met for their first look at the Monte Cristo Ballroom, where we would later return for the reception!
Before they even turned around there was so much passion and excitement, and once the go-ahead was given, Roxanne burst into a gleaming smile as she turned to greet her groom. The army of a bridal party joined along after some alone time with the soon-to-be husband and wife. We headed out into the streets of Everett to capture a few more moments of the gang all of them were spirited and ready for a wedding!
Excited to return later for a grand reception at the Ballroom, the bridal party headed off to the ceremony venue: Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Duvall. The spacious church, with great big windows behind the altar that look out over green fields, was a wondrous place to get married in the sight of God and loved ones. Abundantly eager to seal the deal, the priest finished his piece and announced the newlyweds as they kissed, officially becoming husband and wife.
There was time to get some family photos behind the church. Even if the pesky clouds blocked out the sunlight, it didn’t stop us from getting great shots of this good-looking family. Of course, we also had to get shots of the newlyweds in utter bliss, posing in front of a wicked car. Before we left to return to the Monte Cristo Ballroom, the newlyweds signaled their union by ringing the bell.
Despite having brunch at 1pm, the craziness of a wedding day certainly takes a lot out of you, and by 6:30 it was definitely time for a great feast at the Ballroom. Arriving the confetti and fanfare, the newlyweds made their way along the buffet line and got ready to dig in. There were hugs all around as they mingled with their friends and family. Following toasts, a birthday tribute for one of the bridesmaids, and the cake-cutting, dancing took over. With the exception of the traditional games, dancing consumed the rest of this magical evening.

Roxanne Luke’s story in their own words:
How did you guys meet?
We meet in middle school band class, but never talked to each other even throughout high school. After college saw each other at a couple parties and Luke asked Roxanne out on a date. The rest is history. See our wedding website for more details.
Tell us about the proposal!
A sunset hot air balloon ride! See our website for more details.
Why did you choose your venue?
Originally chose Monte Cristo because how beautiful and elegant it is and how inclusive it is. We don’t want to stress on our big day! Later realized to have the ceremony at a Catholic Church in Duvall where we live and keep the Monte Cristo as the reception.
What are you most excited to see in the video?
Our reactions and the love we have for each other and our families and friends.
Anything else?
Nothing other than we like to have fun!!!
From their wedding website:
How They Met
The pair “met” in band class at Kellogg Middle School in 2003. They never spoke to one another, even throughout high school at Shorecrest. Fast forward to 2014, they grazed each other’s presence at a few parties. A couple weeks later, Luke gained the courage to reach out to Roxanne to go see a movie and have been inseparable since. After a year of dating, they moved in together and currently live in Duvall, WA with their three dogs; Bella, Ollie and Emmie.
The Proposal
Luke planned the whole day for Roxanne’s 26th birthday. A surprise sunrise hot air balloon ride where he’d pop the question! That morning, Luke called in early in case there were any weather delays. To his surprise the flight had been cancelled. He was devastated thinking plans were ruin. After some pondering and a couple phone calls, he rescheduled for a sunset ride the next day. At this time, he was forced to mention the plan (minus the proposal) to rearrange schedules. As a placeholder, they went to Ride the Ducks, The Pacific Science Center and dinner at Roxanne’s family.
Finally, the day had arrived. They worked that day so you can imagine how long that dragged out… At 6pm, they made their way to the departure point at Matthew’s Winery in Woodinville, WA. There were 6 other people in the basket. The captain, a husband and wife with their son and another couple. After about 10 minutes in the air, calm, cool and collected, Luke asked one of the couples to take a picture of them. At this point, Luke got on one knee and asked… “Roxanne, will you marry me?!” and of course, she said YES!
