Bizarre Wedding News - May 14, 2020

Here we are, folks, at the start of what is hopefully our last full month with the stricter quarantine measures in place. That is, unless anybody decides that they have waited long enough and starts to heighten the curve again. But if you have waited this long, surely you can wait just a little bit longer. This week in Bizarre Wedding News, we are catching up with celebrity marriages that have stood the test of time, as well as some fun wedding news from around the world.

It should not come as a surprise that weddings can be immensely expensive. Especially, when you consider other cultures devote entire weeks or weekends to extravagant displays of wealth and affluence. Of course, with the coronavirus essentially putting a stop to most weddings, places like Gaza have seen a large decline in the number of weddings.

Many couples as a result have decided to get hitched anyway without the “requisite parties” that allow a newlywed couple to actually live together. Flooding alleyways and side streets, dozens of friends and family gather to celebrate the marriage, while then relying on the coronavirus shutdowns to stay in and save money so that once it lifts, they can party like there is no tomorrow!

Check out the article for the story of one groom who is still trying to save!

This article is for all of our Californians here. Just a few days ago, Governor Newsom announced that “he signed an executive order allowing adults to get marriage licenses through video conferencing.”

This means that marriage ceremonies can “be done via video conference as long as both are present and a witness joins the video conference.” Alas, this order only extends for the next two months until things really get back to normal, but for the time being, if you are really that eager to get hitched in Cali, there is nothing holding you back now!

What do you think? Would you opt for a cheaper, webcam wedding if it meant getting hitched during the pandemic? Let us know below!

Our last article is about those select Hollywood couples that stand the test of time, despite the whole idea that “celebrity marriages never last.” Well, if you are still of that belief, then we are about to prove you wrong! Sure, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris didn’t last, and neither did Will Arnett and Amy Poehler, but when you look at couples like Meryl Streep and Don Gummer (married for over four decades!) it is easy to find hope once again.

There are 33 other couples on the list, many of which may surprise you! The longest lasting on the list is fifty three years! Do you know who it is? Click the link and find out!
