Every day brings some more unpleasant news with COVID-19, so much so that it seems like the whole world has stopped. Which, in some cases, it has. But what doesn’t capture headlines are babies born, proposals made, and love being found. That’s what we’re here for! Well, at least more of the latter two. This time we are going Behind the Scenes for a closer look into the Michaud Wedding!

I would have to say we are on a pretty good run here with dating sites actually being the place where our bride and groom have met. For Garrett and Jen, it was Plenty of Fish, which if anybody has actually been on there…well…there don’t seem to be many real fish. Fortunately, two genuinely awesome people found each other in a sea of bots and troll profiles. On a trip to New York to celebrate Jen’s 30th, Ken took her out for a rooftop dinner and “Emursive” theater experience at the Hotel McKittrick. To cap things off, he dropped to one knee and proposed to her at the Chelsea High Line.
This should mostly catch you up to 11am on September 28th when we arrived with photographer Roddy Chung to start capturing the day. Jen was getting ready at Hotel Sorrento while Garrett was over near Madison Valley. They both would depart at about noon to head to St. James Cathedral, though Jen did not have far to go! In the meantime, Bonnie Goodin of the Metropolitan Market would be delivering the flowers to the church.
Katie Rodriguez and Reganne Hoirup from It’s Your Day Events were in charge of keeping everyone in line. Thanks to it being a warm and sunny day, the soon-to-be newlyweds were able to have their First Look at the Cathedral (backup would’ve been the Sorrento). After almost an hour of taking photos with them, the bridal party joined in. At this point, everything else was being put into place at the Melrose Market Studio so that the celebration could start as soon as the guests got there.
At 2:30 the ceremony began and went on for the better part of an hour. The finishing touches were going on at the reception venue, but by the time they were done we had newlyweds! More family photos followed the ceremony, with Roddy and our team having a great time. British Motor Coach (thanks Jodie!) would provide a limo for the newlyweds to ride in style to their reception where Jen had a dress change waiting. Waylon from Injoy entertainment was set up and ready for the guests, and right before 5 the reception kicked off! For the next three hours we would party with them, enjoying treats from Nutty Squirrel and dinner from the Melrose Market Studio.
Alas, our night with the newlyweds ended before theirs did. Though, we were fortunate to get some twilight shots of them out and about the city. Thank you again to Jen and Garrett for choosing Best Made Videos® to film their wedding! We hope your first six months of marriage have been splendid.
