With Julys like the one we are having, it makes sense that some people in the Pacific Northwest may be hesitant about having an outdoor wedding. We have hardly seen an 80 degree day all month, and enough days have had rain to make it seem a little more necessary to get married inside. Plus, with COVID and all, that is our only chance as of right now to capture more weddings! So, in other words, do not be afraid to get hitched inside.
New and exciting wedding venues make the option a lot more appealing. Rather than your church or courthouse you can get hitched at something like the Emerald City Trapeze Arts which takes things to a whole new level. Hopefully you are cozied up, because it is time to kick off our Favorite Indoor Weddings of 2019!
Michaud Wedding - St. James Cathedral / Melrose Market Studios
One of our first fall weddings of last year, the Michauds' wedding at St. James Cathedral was a day that could have easily been spent outdoors thanks to some great weather. But for Jennifer and Garrett, their Catholicism led them to be wed in the sight of God inside the magnificent church. Once the ladies and gents were dressed, the bride and groom met outside the cathedral for some photos before it was time to head inside. Right in the heart of First Hill, it feels like a slice of old Europe that has been planted in the middle of a modern city.
Inside, the soaring ceilings and cavernous nave were filled with the sounds of shuffling feet and their echoes. Once the pews were filled, it was time for Garrett and Jennifer to share their love in front of god and loved ones. It was a splendid service and before too long it was time to start partying at the Melrose Market Studios for part 2 of our indoor day with the Michauds!
Schiefer Wedding - Emerald City Trapeze
Surely near the top of our list for most unique places to get married, the Emerald City Trapeze Arts played host to the Schiefers' big day. While they were blessed with sunny skies in July, which played perfectly into their first look photos overlooking the city, it was a day to be spent mostly inside. Flip cup got the morning off to a fun start before everyone piled into the party busses full of booze to take them for photos down by Gasworks Park.
All smiles, they kept them up through to the wedding at the Trapeze Arts. Dazzling with LED trees, the draping safety net, and a wide open space, you could not find a better venue. Be sure to check out the video to see some death-defying stunts that occurred once the knot had been tied. Dinner, show and a wedding, how could it get any better than that?
Benzing Wedding - Trinity Tree Farm
Who doesn’t love Christmas trees? Well, the Benzings for sure do, as their mid-Fall wedding took place at one of the coolest Christmas Tree Farms in the area: Trinity Tree Farm. The Benzings took no risks with having their ceremony indoors, and for what it’s worth, they were probably right. This is October we are talking about, so there was a bit of a chill in the air. The lovely spaces within the venue felt so cozy and rustic, while the actual ceremony space was filled with marvelous stringed lights, chandeliers and loved ones aplenty!
The weather was good enough that we got to roam the farm a bit for photos. The trees were just starting to take shape and made us excited to come back in a few months for our own trees!
Cleary - Gawlak Wedding - Georgetown Ballroom
Memorial Day weekend of last year (you know, when we could actually have a celebration without worrying about social distancing) seems so far away. For the Cleary - Gawlak wedding, it still probably feels like yesterday. Blessed with immaculate weather, the day was still held mostly inside. Down in Georgetown, the industrial buildings helped make the photo shoots pop with the color of graffiti and brick walls
Inside the Georgetown Ballroom, the aesthetics were a lot of the same. Lanterns of many colors hung from the ceiling, and the masonry of old seattle really made it look unique for an indoor wedding. Plenty of space (hey, it is a ballroom, after all!) for friends, family and then dancing made it the optimal venue for a good time.
Gaston Wedding - The Kelley Farm
Capping this first week off with another indoor farm wedding, this time down in Bonney Lake. This was actually one of our first for the year, which means it is a winter wedding! Despite it being January, we were able to spend part of the day outside. Once again with the good ol’ rustic lifestyle, we were transported out of the modern day and into the past. There was a lot of tomfoolery to be had leading up to the wedding, and plenty of misty landscapes to capture our newlyweds.
The big, beautiful barn that served as host for the ceremony looked out of this world. Delightful chandeliers and candle-lit lanterns brought light to the space, and the rest of the decorations really tied it all together. After their plunging first kiss, the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle to get ready for the reception. Cocktail hour was held in a tent while the barn was converted to the reception space. Once the newlyweds arrived, it was time to party the whole night away.
