“Thank you so much for sending, and for such a quick turnaround! It looks great!”
Over in the historic Pioneer Square district, which during the early days of Seattle (particularly the Gold Rush) became Seattle’s first “downtown,” you’ll find a competition between new and old. Between the Seattle Weekly building churning out its paper every week, the nearby International District, or the growth of new buildings and businesses, it’s a constant battle that has ultimately shaped the neighborhood into one of Seattle’s most distinct and exciting. In the heart of the area likes AXIS, an event space inside the 130-year-old Globe Building that captures the spirit of the neighborhood while also providing all of the elements for a perfect wedding.
Just shy of Halloween, the Manheim’s gathered in Pioneer Square on the same day as the annual “Thrill the World,” a gathering of people who want to bust out their best Michael Jackson impersonations. But while the spookiness was going on outside, there was a little more tranquility inside. As zombies filled the streets (and later posed with the bride and groom), Danica and Phil got ready in significantly calmer and less scary environments. If it was scary for them, we would have never known the better.
Meeting up on the streets for their First Look, Danica arrived to greet her groom as Phil’s bashfulness overtook him upon seeing her in her wedding dress. The fall leaves and natural color of the season really helped accentuate the more industrial feel of Pioneer Square. The browns and the oranges all melded together to really give the impression of being in the past. But with a sleek suit and a gorgeous dress, the bride and groom stood out against it all as they headed towards something new.
Posing with family, fending off zombies, and smiling all the while made for a blast out on the streets. Before they were overtaken with the hordes, the bride and groom headed inside to be married. Against the backdrop of old brick and mortar, surrounded by dazzling lights and flowers, Danica and Phil recited vows from their hearts as they opened up in front of one another and their families. Planting a smooch right on his bride, the two were officially married (right after they signed the books.)
With the event space open up to everyone, dinner was served as the newly weds made the rounds to visit their guests. Photo booths provided entertainment for the kids (but mostly adults) and supplied everlasting memories of an already unforgettable day. Eventually the lights dimmed to a warm purple, and everyone got on their feet to dance. Note the impromptu get-down to “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls, it happened to make our Favorite Wedding Reception Moments!
Thanks again to Danica and Philip for choosing Best Made Videos to film their wedding! It was truly a spectacular day full of love and happiness. We hope that your first year of marriage is going terrifically.
