Welcome everyone to another rousing installment of our Bizarre Wedding News series. Even more so in recent months, the wedding news around the world has been really weird. From Zoom weddings to social-distancing officiants and shifting focuses from vendors have all radically altered the wedding landscape. This week we are back with more celebrity news, including a much-talked about Office reunion and the discovery of a long-lost ring.
Celebrities have the tendency to “go big or go home,” and nearly every aspect of their wedding is discussed to the minute detail. But the very first thing we end up discussing (other than if we think their partners are a good match for them) is just how big that engagement ring is.
Page Six takes a look at the 25 most jaw-dropping rings from celebrities, and needless to say these are absurdly expensive and large rocks. Ranging from First Ladies to athletes and actresses, a few key rings include Mariah Carey’s “show-stopper at 35 carats with an estimated value of $10 million.” Alas, the couple broke up almost a year after the engagement and Carey supposedly sold it off for a fraction of the price!

It’s seriously heartbreaking when you hear that someone lost their wedding or engagement ring, but on the flip side it is immensely satisfying once it is found. This time around is perhaps one of the longest sagas and with the most bizarre result.
In 1940, Margarete Herzon accidentally lost her ring down a public bathroom sink in Beelitz, Germany. Since then, Herzon passed in 1996 but she had relayed the story to her daughter. Recently, some metal detectorists discovered the ring in a fruit orchard. Noticing some engravings (“H.H. 30.03.1940” the ring was taken “to the civil registry office,” and based on the records, Margarete and Hans Herzog were the only couple to get married on that date.
The Office will always have a special place in our hearts (as well as millions of other people.) A reunion has been much craved after its finale, but all of the stars have transitioned into new phases of their careers, and much like Friends it does not seem like a proper one will ever happen.
For his online show Some Good News, John Krasinski did what many thought was impossible: he surprised fans with a recreation of the famous Jim and Pam wedding scene with almost all of the original cast! He also had “gotten ordained as a minister” and wed them over the internet! This thing has been everywhere on the internet, and now you can find it here for some much needed warmth and happiness.
